Spotlight Feature – Dr Katie Lamb
Postdoctoral Researcher.
The University of Sheffield.
My research is focussed on developing evidence-based policies for the implementation of a circular economy in the chemicals manufacturing industries across the UK. Using my strong knowledge and experience of practical green chemistry research, I will focus on evaluating the performance of competing technology pathways and devise new evidence-based policy instruments to stimulate supply, demand and investment in sustainable chemicals. I will also focus on ensuring social justice is maintained in these policies, whilst promoting public awareness and knowledge towards the social acceptance of a circular chemical economy.
My work will involve liaising with universities, industrial partners, stakeholders, and the UK Government. This includes collaborating with DEFRA, BEIS, the HM Treasury, the Welsh Government, Zero Waste Scotland and the Northern Ireland Civil Service amongst others. I am also working with fellow policy researchers across the CE-Hub research centres, to ensure policies developed for the chemical sector will complement other UK sectors.
