Sustainable Biomass in the Circular Chemical Economy

Sustainable Biomass in the Circular Chemical Economy

Join our CircularChem webinar on the 7th of November, 2024 at 12pm to learn from Industry representatives Dr Sarah Davidson (Technology Development Lead, Croda), Dr Anna Zhenova (Founder & CEO, Green Rose Chemistry) and CircularChem researcher Dr Swathi Mukundan (Loughborough University) on how they approach sustainable biomass in their respective roles.

Biomass is organic and inherently renewable, making it important within a circular economy regarding the production of materials and energy and its use with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).  In 2023, The UK Government’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero released a Biomass Strategy Policy Paper, which highlighted plans to create a sustainable biomass sector to help meet the UK’s wider 2050 Net Zero goals. Where do chemicals fit in? This webinar will further elaborate on this timely discussion by providing industry and academic expertise with case study examples.

Webinar Agenda:

12.00 – 12.05 Welcome and Chair Introduction Dr Tim Blackburn, Newcastle University.

12.05 – 12.20 Circular carbon for sustainable chemicals Dr Sarah Davidson, Croda.

12.20 – 12.35 The role of biomass in a bioeconomy Dr Anna Zhenova, Green Rose Chemistry.
