Rethinking Polymers: Sustainable and Circular by Design
With limited spaces available, register now for this Design for Circularity event, joint hosted by the UKRI Interdisciplinary Centre for the Circular Chemical Economy, Innovate-UK and RSC. The event will be held on November 18th, 2024 at the Royal Society of Chemistry, Burlington House.
This event will be of interest to stakeholders from Industry, Academia, Policy and non-profit organisations who are concerned with end of life fate of polymers. It builds on recent activities on the themes of: Circular Economy of Chemicals; UK chemicals and Net Zero; Defossilisation of
Chemicals; Chemical Resource Efficiency; Sustainable Polymers in Liquid Formulations; Materials and Manufacturing Vision 2050.
A round-table discussion will take place on the smart design of chemicals for the future chemical
industry and the following themes will be discussed:
- How regulation on polymers impacts current guidelines and standards
- Making industry ready:
AI/Digital Twinning
Mass Balance Chain of Custody
Life Cycle Assessment tool
Standardisation of biodegradation testing, reporting and certification - Identification and prioritisation of areas where genuine innovation is required
The findings from the discussion will be summarised in an action plan and policy briefing.
